Hampton, VA - Fayetteville State University's Ines Nieves was named by the CIAA Conference office as the CIAA 2007 Player of the Year. A native of Fayetteville, North Carolina and a graduate of Pine Forest Senior High School, the conference 2006 Rookie of the Year finished the regular season undefeated in conference and non-conference action, going 23-0 overall and 15-0 against conference opponents.

Nieves plays the No. 1 position on the singles and doubles teams. Her conference record in the doubles flights is also worth celebrating. With her partner LeJacquelyn Artis, they posted a 15-0 conference record and an 18-5 overall record. Nieves' leadership and play was instrumental in the Lady Broncos posting a 15-0 record in conference action and 19-4 overall.

Joining Nieves on the 2007 CIAA All-Conference team were teammates Constance Lee (15-0, CIAA; 20-3 overall), LeJacquelyn Artis (13-1 CIAA; 17-5 overall), Shayla Watson 14-0 CIAA; 17-4 overall), Contessa Sanchez (14-0 CIAA, 18-4 overall) and Arie Bennett (14-0 CIAA; 18-4 overall).

The Lady Broncos will start tournament play Wednesday, April 18 at Virginia State University' Tennis Court in Petersburg, Virginia.
