A’Leah Lakay Wilson, a junior at Fayetteville State, is a versatile softball player who excels as a middle infielder and outfielder, proudly wearing jersey number 6. Standing at 5'3" and weighing 125 lbs, A’Leah bats and throws right-handed. She hails from Oakland, California, and was home schooled before attending Guilford Technical Community College. Currently majoring in Sports and Fitness Management, A’Leah chose this field to stay connected to athletics even when she can no longer meet the physical demands of being an athlete.
Beyond her athletic and academic pursuits, A’Leah has unique talents, including riding a unicycle and juggling. Her greatest inspiration is Ricky Henderson, whose journey from poverty to becoming a legendary athlete who still holds the stolen base record motivates her to strive for greatness. One of her favorite sports memories is winning the championship against her team's nemesis with her old softball team.
At Fayetteville State, A’Leah's best experience has been stepping foot on an HBCU campus and feeling the vibrant atmosphere for the first time. On game days, she prepares by listening to music to stay motivated and sets personal goals to achieve during the game. After finishing school, A’Leah plans to complete the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program and pursue a career in physical therapy.
