CHARLOTTE, NC - Fayetteville State softball earned a conference‑wide spotlight this week as Treja Patterson was named CIAA Offensive Player of the Week and Cheyenne Payne collected CIAA Defensive Player of the Week honors for games played March 1–7. The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced the Week Four awards on Tuesday.

Patterson, a senior sports management major from Federal Way, WA, turned in one of the league's top offensive performances, batting .416 across four contests with eight RBIs and two runs scored. Her week featured a signature outing in the Broncos' March 3 victory over Coker, where she went 4‑for‑4 with four RBIs and a home run, punctuating a seven‑hit stretch that also included a double, three walks, and three stolen bases. 

Payne, a sophomore nursing major from Hollywood, FL, anchored the Broncos' defense to earn the league's top weekly defensive nod, finishing the week with 13 putouts and no errors while patrolling the outfield. She also impacted the scoreboard, batting .319 with eight hits, six runs, two RBIs, and home runs against Coker and Chestnut Hill, underscoring her two‑way value in Fayetteville State's lineup. 

The Broncos are back in action Saturday, March 14th, 12 pm and 2pm as they host the Carolina Bruins at Lamon Street Park.
