SANFORD, N.C. — Fayetteville State surged in the second round of FSU's Rodeo at the Ridge golf tournament Monday, trimming 16 strokes off its opening-round score to move into fifth place heading into Tuesday's final round.

The Broncos posted a team score of 298 in Round 2 after an opening round of 314, bringing their two-round total to 612. Sandhills Community College leads the seven-team field at 585, followed by Winston-Salem State (590), Bluefield State (607), and Chowan (611).

Sophomore Sutton Dreier led the way for Fayetteville State with rounds of 76 and 73 for a 36-hole total of 149 (+5), placing him 12th overall in the team standings. Dreier's steady play helped anchor a strong second round for the Broncos, who saw three players shoot 76 or better on Monday.

Donald Barnett delivered the team's most dramatic turnaround, rebounding from an 84 in the opening round with a 71 (-1) in Round 2 — the lowest score of any FSU team member across both rounds. Barnett moved into a tie for 29th at 155 (+11).

Landon Cabingas contributed rounds of 78 and 76 (154, +10), while Patricio Ramirez posted back-to-back 78s (156, +12). Andrew McCarver rounded out the team scoring with rounds of 82 and 80 (162, +18).

Individually, Allan Terrazas paced all Fayetteville State golfers with a two-day total of 146 (+2), placing him seventh overall among unattached competitors. Terrazas followed a 74 on Sunday with an even-par 72 on Monday. Jack McCarthy also made an impact, opening with an even-par 72 before slipping to a 76 in Round 2, finishing at 148 (+4).

Wyatt Beaver of Sandhills CC leads all players with a two-round score of 136 (-8), including a tournament-best 66 (-6) in Round 2. Godfrey Nsubuga of Winston-Salem State is second at 139 (-5).

The final round of the 54-hole tournament tees off Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. at Quail Ridge Golf Course.
