SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Fayetteville State volleyball dropped a tough match to undefeated Lynn University in straight sets (15-25, 11-25, 13-25) Saturday morning at Tom & Tracy Hannah Gymnasium during the Valkyries Invitational.

The non-conference loss moves the Broncos to 3-2 on the season.

Senior outside hitter Chiara Vittoni led Fayetteville State with a match-high 12 kills and added one service ace. Jasmine Culp paced the defense with seven digs, while Giovanna Teixeira contributed 15 assists to guide the offense.

Lynn (7-0), the reigning NCAA Division II national champions, showcased their depth and efficiency, hitting .340 as a team. Nadia Rossi led the Fighting Knights with 11 kills and 10 digs, while Valentina Mogg added eight kills and nine digs. Setter Ula Gorjup ran the offense with 30 assists and chipped in four digs and two service aces. Lynn also got strong contributions from Lillia Neill (five kills, one block) and Aline Olegario (five kills, .400 hitting).

Fayetteville State kept pace early in the first set, which featured seven ties before Lynn pulled away for a 25-15 win. The Fighting Knights controlled the second set from the start, using a 14-point margin to take a 2-0 lead. Lynn completed the sweep with a 25-13 win in the third, never trailing in the frame.
