AHOSKIE, NC -- The Chowan Intercollegiate at Beechwood Country Club in Ahoskie, NC, hosted by Chowan University, was a thrilling event that showcased the talents of collegiate golfers. Fayetteville State finished 5th with a score of 898 (304, 295, 299). The competition was fierce, with Mount Olive (874: 298, 289, 287), Barton (B) (874: 294, 287, 293), and Barton (A) (884: 289, 296, 299) emerging as the top three teams.
Juan Lopez, a redshirt senior in business administration from Madrid, Spain, led the Broncos. His performance was marked by consistency and resilience that gave him a fifth place finish. He started strong with an even-par 72 in the first round, which included 4 birdies on holes 4, 6, 10, and 18. In the second round, he shot a 73 (+1) with one birdie on hole 4, maintaining his competitive edge. Despite facing challenges in the third round, he managed a 77 (+5) with one birdie on hole 18, finishing the tournament with a total score of +6.
