Charlotte, NC - The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) named Fayetteville State football player, John Hernandez-Vargas, as the week #5 CIAA Football Special Teams Player of the Week.

Hernandez-Vargas, a sophomore business administration major from Biscoe, NC, was a standout contributor on special teams in Fayetteville State's win over Bowie State on October 4. His consistency and power in the kicking game helped control field position and maintain momentum throughout the contest. Hernandez-Vargas executed 7 kickoffs for a total of 414 yards, averaging an impressive 59.1 yards per kick, outperforming Bowie State's average by over 5 yards. He was also perfect on point-after attempts, going 5-for-5 and adding 5 crucial points to the scoreboard.

The Broncos will play Livingstone Saturday,  October 11th, for homecoming at Luther " Nick" Jeralds Stadium. Kickoff will be 1:30 pm.
