Broncos Power Past Bowie State Bulldogs 76-55

BOWIE, MD -- The Fayetteville State women's basketball team leveraged a strong performance from their bench to secure a 76-55 victory over the Bowie State Bulldogs on the road Saturday. This win brings Fayetteville State's record to 8-5 overall and 3-1 in the CIAA, while Bowie State now stands at 10-5 overall and 4-1 in the CIAA.

Destiny Ryles led the Bulldogs with 17 points,  3 rebounds, 1 assist, and 4 steals. For Fayetteville State, Keayna McLaughlin topped the scoring with 16 points and added three steals. Talia Trotter and Nyah Wilkins each chipped in 12 points, with Wilkins providing a spark off the bench.

The Broncos' bench contributed significantly, adding 34 points to the team's total. Fayetteville State dominated the boards, out-rebounding Bowie State 29-22, with Morgan Graham leading the way with six rebounds. The Broncos' defense was relentless, forcing 21 turnovers and converting them into 23 points. Fayetteville State's offensive efficiency was evident as they recorded assists on 72% of their made field goals.

After an early 6-3 deficit, Fayetteville State went on a 14-0 run to take a commanding 17-6 lead, ending the first quarter up 23-10. The Broncos maintained their lead throughout the second quarter, entering halftime with a 37-30 advantage. A 13-0 run in the third quarter extended Fayetteville State's lead to 50-30, and they entered the final period with a 57-35 edge. The Broncos continued to control the game in the fourth quarter, sealing the victory with a final score of 76-55. The Broncos held the Bulldogs to 35% shooting from the field. 

The next game for the Broncos will be Monday, January 6th in Philadelphia, PA, where they will face Lincoln (Pa) at 5:30 PM.
