GLEN ALLEN, VA --The Fayetteville State Broncos had a tough game against the Winston-Salem Rams on Saturday, ultimately losing 10-0. The Broncos' sophomore pitcher, Hannah Mills (7-5), started the game but was unable to keep the Rams' offense at bay. Despite their efforts, the Broncos were unable to score a run against the performance of Winston-Salem's pitcher, Jyla Thomas.
Sophomore Angelica Locklear was a bright spot for the Broncos, going 1-for-2 with a double. However, the team struggled to capitalize on their scoring opportunities, going 0-for-4 with runners in scoring position. The Broncos last had a runner on third base in the fourth inning, when freshman Xztashya Porter made it 60 feet away from scoring with one out.
During the game, Fayetteville State's pitchers faced 27 Winston-Salem hitters, allowing six ground balls and two fly balls while striking out three. Locklear's performance at the plate was notable, but it was not enough going against Winston-Salem's Aniyah Jackson, going 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
Congratulations Broncos on a great season.
