FAYETTEVILLE, NC --The Fayetteville State Broncos had a tough showing on Friday, falling to the Claflin Panthers 8-1 despite the efforts of freshman Aniya Caldwell, who went 1-for-3 with a home run and an RBI.
Sophomore Hannah Mills (6-4) started and took the loss in the circle for Fayetteville State (13-18, 7-8).
In the batter's box, the Broncos were led by Caldwell, who went 1-for-3 on the day with a home run and an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 8-0, the Broncos first put runs on the board in the sixth inning. Caldwell put Fayetteville State on the board with a two-out solo home run off freshman Sydra Pendleton. The Broncos were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
