FAYETTEVILLE, NC - The Fayetteville State Golf team will participate in the 24th annual Ralph Hargett Memorial Intercollegiate on March 18-19 in Monroe, NC. The host school is Wingate University. The 54-hole event will be held at Rolling Hills Country Club in Monroe, NC with 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday. Admission to the two-day event is free.
The team last competed in the Rams Shootout at the Pines (Mid Pines Inn & Golf Club) hosted by Winston-Salem State in Southern Pines, NC. They placed third with a score of 599 behind USC Beaufort (1st, 592) and Virginia Union (2nd, 593). After the first round at the Pines, the Broncos were tied in second place with USC Beaufort having a scorecard of 297. Virginia Union held first place by only 1-hole with a score of 296. On the second day on the green, the team fell to third finishing with a score of 302.
Brandon Jones, a senior business administration major from Sanford, NC, led the Broncos with a score of 149. He scored 5 birdies over the two rounds. He was two-over par (73) in the first round and scored five over par (76) in the second round.
