Winston-Salem, NC (February 12, 2024) – Fayetteville State University ran away with the 2024 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship at the JDL Fast Track on Monday for the fourth consecutive year.
The Broncos, in its fifth season as a university-sponsored program, racked up 138 points to claim the title. Winston-Salem State University finished as the runner-up with 115 points and Saint Augustine's University placed third with 90.5 points.

M'Smyra Seward, the Women's Field Athlete of the Year, captured the long jump (5.89 meters) and the triple jump (11.75 meters) events for the Championship's Field MVP Award. Seward has the longest jump in the Atlantic Region and is fifth in Division II.
Other Broncos that took the top podium were
Irene Jeptoo, who won the mile with a time of 5:13.16, and fellow distance runner
Nia Gibson, who came in first place in the 3,000 meters with a time of 10:46.28.
Head Coach
Inez Turner was named for the fourth consecutive year as the CIAA Women's Coach of the Year.
Notable performances were had by
Queen Burnett as she ran an NCAA provisional qualifying time in the 60 meters with a time of 7.65 seconds. She now ranks seventh in the Atlantic Region.
Jessica McQueen and
Janya Moore both turned in qualifying times on the 200 meters. McQueen finished third overall in 25.01 seconds and Moore in 25.07.
Jessica McQueen ran a faster time of 24.95 in the preliminaries. The duo is ranked fifth and sixth in the region.
In the 400 meters, McQueen won the bronze medal with an NCAA time of 57.18 seconds. She has the second fastest time in the Atlantic.
The 4x400 relay of McQueen, Burnett,
Malaysia Barber, and
Janya Moore finished second for silver with a qualifying time of 3:55.48.
Tiara Wilson finished second in the triple jump with a hop, skip, and jump of 11.69 meters, which is fifth best in the region.
