Hickory, NC -- The Fayetteville State golf team recently competed in the Lenoir Rhyne Fall Invitational at Lake Hickory Country Club - Fox Run-Sulphur Springs, showcasing their skills and determination on the course. The team finished 9th overall with a combined score of +55 (919: 311, 307, 301). The top three teams in the tournament were Lenoir-Rhyne [A] (875: 288,294,293), Rollins (882: 298,299,285), and King (889: 305,295,289).
Donald Barnett led the Broncos, finishing in 30th place with a total score of 229, after rounds of 71, 80, and 78. In the first round, Barnett started strong, carding a 71. He managed to stay under par for most of the round, with birdies on holes 4, 8, and 9. The second round proved more challenging for Barnett, as he posted an 80. Despite a solid start, he encountered difficulties on the back nine, but his birdies on holes 10 and 11 helped mitigate some of the damage. He ultimately finished the round at 8-over par. Barnett bounced back in the third round with a score of 78. He managed to keep his score relatively steady, with birdies on holes 4 and 16.
Sutton Drier followed Barnett closely, securing 37th place with a score of 230, thanks to rounds of 80, 72, and 78.
Jack McCarthy, competing as an individual, placed 39th with a score of 231, posting rounds of 82, 71, and 78.
Allan Terrazas finished in 44th place with a score of 233, recording rounds of 80, 82, and 71.
Patricio Ramirez ended in 52nd place with a score of 235, after rounds of 83, 73, and 79.
Juan Lopez rounded out the team, finishing in 66th place with a score of 238, with rounds of 80, 84, and 74.
