FSU Basketball Mourns the Loss of Former Head Coach Rick Duckett

Rick Duckett took over the Fayetteville State basketball program in 1993 and finished his first collegiate season as a head coach with an 18-11 record. After five seasons, he held a 75-62 overall record and a .547 win percentage.

He took over the Broncos' program following Jeff Capel's era and led FSU to the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament Semi-Final round. The Broncos finished year two with a 15-10 season and the third with a 10-17 record. Fayetteville State made its third-ever CIAA Championship appearance in 1997 and finished the year with a 15-14 record. Duckett ended his stint with FSU after going 17-10 in 1998. 

His impact at Fayetteville State and in the basketball community will forever be remembered.

Funeral Services for Coach Duckett will be held on Sunday, January 14 at St Peters Church at 3683 Old Lexington Rd in Winston Salem, NC at 1 pm.
