FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — The postseason accolades continue to pour in for Fayetteville State men's basketball following one of the program's most dominant seasons in recent history. Senior forward Larry Howell has been named to the 2025–26 D2CCA All-Atlantic Region First Team, and was also selected as the HBCU Division II Player of the Year, highlighting a sweep of major honors awarded to the Broncos this week. In addition, Head Coach Devin Hoehn has been named the HBCU Division II Coach of the Year, while Terrell Williams and Ezekiel Cannedy joined Howell on the BOXTOROW HBCU All-America Teams.
The recognition comes as Fayetteville State prepares for the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional as the No. 5 seed with a 23–6 record and riding an impressive 17-game win streak.
Howell Named D2CCA First Team, HBCU Division II Player of the Year
Senior standout Larry Howell continues to cement himself as one of the top players in the nation. The Orangeburg, S.C. native was named to the D2CCA All-Atlantic Region First Team, adding to his honor as the 2025–26 HBCU Division II Player of the Year (BOXTOROW).
Howell leads all HBCU Division II players in scoring at 20.8 points per game, which ranks 19th nationally. His dominant season includes:
- 604 total points (No. 1 in CIAA, 21st nationally)
- 20+ points in 16 games, including two 30-point performances
- Shooting 45.2% from the field and 85.2% from the free throw line (No. 2 in CIAA)
- 6.4 rebounds per game, including 4.9 defensive boards
- 33.8 minutes per game, among CIAA leaders
Howell also ranks No. 1 in Division II in both free throw attempts (236) and free throws made (201).
Hoehn Named HBCU Division II Coach of the Year
In just his first season at the helm, Head Coach Devin Hoehn has been named the HBCU Division II Coach of the Year after guiding Fayetteville State to a remarkable turnaround and a championship season.
Hoehn led the Broncos to:
- A 23–6 record
- A CIAA Tournament Championship, defeating Bluefield State—his former program
- A 17-game winning streak, one of the longest active streaks in the country
- A top-10 national offense at 89.4 points per game
Hoehn becomes the first head coach in the award's history to earn Coach of the Year honors in his first season leading a program.

Spotlight on All-America Selections
After missing the first nine games of the season due to injury, junior guard Terrell Williams immediately became one of FSU's most dynamic impact players. Williams finished the season as the team's third-leading scorer, averaging:
- 14.5 points per game
- 7.4 rebounds per game (team leader)
- 5.4 assists per game (No. 3 in CIAA, top 120 nationally)
- 1.8 steals per game
He recorded one triple-double, making him the only player in Division II to achieve the feat this season.
Junior guard Ezekiel Cannedy was one of the top perimeter threats in Division II, averaging:
- 17.0 points per game
- 3.0 three-pointers per game (No. 1 in CIAA, No. 16 nationally)
- 87 made threes (CIAA leader)
- Shooting 36% from beyond the arc and 81% from the free throw line
Cannedy scored 20 or more points in 12 games and is among the top 10 nationally in three-point attempts (242).
With multiple national awards, three All-Americans, and both the CIAA championship and NCAA berth clinched, the Broncos have positioned themselves as one of the premier programs in the region.
FSU now sets its sights on the NCAA Atlantic Regional, where the Broncos open play against California (Pa.).
