ETTRICK, VA -- Fayetteville State ran into a season-ending buzzsaw in the circle Tuesday as Kara Green threw a no-hitter for Virginia State (12-17 overall), leading the Trojans past the Broncos 8-0 in a CIAA Quarterfinal Round.
BreAnna Steele (4-6 overall) started and took the loss in the circle for Fayetteville State (15-19 overall).
Angel Johnson led the way offensively for the Broncos, going 0-for-1 in the ballgame with a walk.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Fayetteville State managed zero chances with runners on third in the shutout, going a total of 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position. The Broncos last got a runner on third in the second, when DeMya Smith made it 60 feet away from scoring with one out.
