Charlotte, NC – Fayetteville State's freshman DeMya Brown was named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Week #3 Softball Rookie of the Week.
 
Brown, a native of Charlotte, NC, had a stellar performance in her collegiate opener versus Allen University on Friday, March 17. In the doubleheader, she went .857 (6-for-7) at the plate as the Broncos swept the Yellow Jackets 14-3 and 9-1. She tallied six RBI from the six hits and scored four runs.
 
In the first game as a designated hitter, Brown was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI. She had a stolen base and crossed home plate twice. In the second game, DeMya was perfect with four at-bats and four RBI. She hit two doubles and scored twice. On defense, playing third base, Brown contributed to a double play at first and had a putout.
 
DeMya Brown hit a two-run walk-off single to end the game in the bottom of the fifth inning.
 
Fayetteville State will be playing in the CIAA Softball Roundup this weekend in Elizabeth City, NC.
