New Orleans, LA – Six Fayetteville State University track and field student-athletes were named Atlantic All-Region honorees for the 2023 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field season by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA).
M'Smrya Seward and
Jessica McQueen received honors for two events.
Tracy Idugboe,
Malaysia Barber,
Queen Burnett, and
Teanna Bell were named All-Region as well.
M'Smrya Seward, who qualified to compete for a National Championship in the long jump, earned All-Region honors in the long and triple jump. The Youngsville, NC native won the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) long jump and triple jump titles and finished second in the high jump. Her NCAA qualifying long jump of 6.10 meters (20' 0.23") is the best in the Atlantic Region and fourth in Division II. Seward also had the best Regional performance in the triple jump with a distance of 12.03m (39' 5.75"), but it ranks 19
th overall.
Jessica McQueen (High Point, NC) ranked fifth in the region with a 400m time of 56.91 seconds. She was a member of the region's best 4x400 meter relay squad that ran a time of 3:47.37. The other members of the 4x4 All-Region honorees are
Malaysia Barber (Asheville, NC),
Queen Burnett (Charlotte, NC), and
Teanna Bell (Raleigh, NC).
Tracy Idugboe (Norfolk, VA) ranked second, behind Seward, in the triple jump with a mark of 12m (39' 4.5").
The top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned All-Region distinction, in addition to each member of the region's top-3 relay teams. The regions used for this award are Atlantic, Central, East, Midwest, South, South Central, Southeast, and West.
