FAYETTEVILLE, NC --The Fayetteville State Broncos fell 2-1 in an eight-inning matchup to the Saint Andrews (NC) Knights Monday.
Senior Braynka Brown (0-3 overall) got the ball to start for Fayetteville State (3-8 overall) and took the loss. The right-hander went eight innings, giving up two runs, one earned, on six hits, allowing one walk and striking out one.
Senior Angel Johnson led the way offensively for the Broncos, going 2-for-3 in the ballgame with a walk.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Broncos were trailing 1-0 in the fifth inning when they first put runs on the board. Johnson came across to score the lone run of the inning for Fayetteville State and get them on the board. Saint Andrews (NC) then scored one time over the remaining three innings to break the tie and grab the 2-1 win.
