ORANGEBURG, SC --Junior BreAnna Steele was dealing on Sunday, throwing a three-hit shutout to lead the Fayetteville State Broncos past the Clark Atlanta Panthers 9-0.
Steele (1-1) went the distance for Fayetteville State (1-5 overall), giving up three hits, walking none and striking out two.
Freshman Treja Patterson led the way offensively for the Broncos, going 1-for-3 in the ballgame with a triple and an RBI. Sophomore Morgan Jackson put together a noteworthy performance as well, going 1-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Senior Tanika Powell also contributed, going 3-for-4 for Fayetteville State with an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Broncos took the lead for good in the fourth, scoring for the first time in the inning. Fayetteville State's offense started clicking and put up six runs, including a one-run flyout off the bat of sophomore Olivia Jackson.
The Broncos also added runs in the fifth inning when they scored six times.
