ORANGEBURG, SC --The Fayetteville State Broncos were not able to score a run against Edward Waters pitcher freshman Shai-Ann Currie on Saturday despite totaling five hits and were shut out 6-0 by the Tigers.
Freshman Hannah Mills started and took the loss in the circle for Fayetteville State (0-4 overall). Senior Braynka Brown started the ballgame and went five innings, surrendering one run on four hits, walking one and striking out two.
In the batter's box, the Broncos were paced by freshman Treja Patterson, who went 2-for-3 on the day with a triple.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Fayetteville State managed one chance with runners on third in the shutout, going a total of 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position. The Broncos last got a runner on third in the fifth, when sophomore Olivia Jackson made it 60 feet away from scoring with one out.
