RALEIGH, NC --Led by a dominant defensive effort that held the Saint Augustine's ground attack to 48 rushing yards, Fayetteville State knocked off the Falcons 7-0 on the road Saturday afternoon.
The Broncos improved to 4-2 on the year and 4-0 in Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association play, while the Falcons fell to 0-6 and 0-4.
Derrick Alston Jr. totaled 75 yards to lead the Broncos' ground attack in the game, picking up 4.7 yards per carry along the way. Bryce Council also tacked on 69 yards on the ground, picking up 6.3 yards per carry.
Demari Daniels' most prolific target in the ballgame was Barry Elliott, who caught five passes for 63 yards.
Dylan Morris paced the Fayetteville State defensive effort, recording 8 tackles (6 solo) and 1.0 TFL. Elijah Casey added 7 tackles and Brian Grier had five in the win.
Defensively, Fayetteville State did an impressive job limiting the Saint Augustine's offensive attack, holding the Falcons to 189 total yards. The Broncos kept Saint Augustine's under 150 yards on both the ground and through the air, allowing 141 passing and 48 rushing yards.
