GAME 2 | Johnson C. Smith 8, Fayetteville State 3
CHARLOTTE, NC --The Fayetteville State Broncos got three hits out of junior M'Smrya Seward in an 8-3 loss to the Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls Friday.
Sophomore BreAnna Steele (7-10) started and took the loss in the circle for Fayetteville State (16-16, 11-5 CIAA).
In addition to her three hits, Seward had a double, a home run and an RBI to lead the Broncos. Junior Braynka Brown compiled a noteworthy performance at the dish as well, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Sophomore Sierra also chipped in for Fayetteville State, putting together one hit in two trips to the plate while adding a double and a walk.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Broncos got on the board immediately, starting their scoring with one run in the top of the first inning. Seward came across to score the lone run of the inning for Fayetteville State and get them on the board.
The Broncos lost the lead they built in the first, but got back on the board in the fifth trailing 7-1. Fayetteville State picked up two runs, scoring one on a solo home run from Seward, which tightened the Golden Bulls lead to 7-3. The Broncos were unable to get any closer, as Johnson C. Smith added one run to their tally on the way to an 8-3 final.
