Morganton, NC (Oct. 19th, 2021) – Fayetteville State University wrapped up its Fall portion of the season with a 14
th place finish at the Donald Ross Intercollegiate. The Lenoir-Rhyne tournament was held at the Mimosa Hills Golf and Country Club in Morganton, North Carolina. The Broncos complied a 910-stroke score over the three-day tournament after rounds of 293, 303, and 314. Zach Martin was the lead golfer for the Broncos with a scorecard of 224 strokes. Martin placed in a tie for 45
th.
Brandon Jones was a stroke behind in the totals with a 225 and a tied 48
th finish.
Mount Olive won the tournament with an eight-over par (848). Belmont Abbey was second (850) and Erskine finished third (854 strokes). Host Lenoir-Rhyne finished the event in fourth place (856).
The Broncos ranked ninth after the first round with 293 strokes.
Holt Walker had the better card with 71 strokes (+1) on the Par 70 course. Jones finished two-over, and
Shaun Wixson was plus-three at 73 strokes.
FSU dropped down a few positions after the second round of 18 holes within the same day with a total score of 596. Fayetteville State scored a 303 and was tied for 11
th with Glenville State.
Eighteen teams participated in the tournament with a total of 93 golfers.
