SANFORD, N.C. – Fayetteville State closed out play at the CIAA Southern Division Golf Tournament with a third-place finish after three rounds at Quail Ridge Golf Course, hosting the divisional championship.
The Broncos posted a three-round total of 919 (294, 312, 313), finishing behind Bluefield State (912: 299, 301, 312) and Winston-Salem State (917: 294, 307, 316). Fayetteville State opened the tournament tied for first after round one, slipped to third following round two, and held that position through the final round.
Junior Sutton Dreier continued to lead Fayetteville State throughout the tournament, finishing seventh overall on the individual leaderboard. Dreier carded a final-round 79 to close the event at +10 (226) and recorded three birdies during the final round, bringing his tournament total to nine birdies across three rounds. He opened the championship with a 2-under-par 70 and remained the Broncos' most consistent scorer from start to finish.
The Broncos received balanced contributions across the lineup as they navigated challenging conditions at Quail Ridge. Andrew McCarver and Allan Terrazas both finished within striking distance of Dreier, while Landon Cabingas and Jack McCarthy rounded out the team scoring as Fayetteville State secured its third-place divisional finish.
With the Southern Division Tournament complete, the Broncos now turn their attention to the CIAA Northern Division Tournament, scheduled for March 30–31 and hosted by Bluefield State.
