Final Stats
WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Winston-Salem State picked up a pair of victories over Fayetteville State in a softball doubleheader to close out the regular season on Sunday.
The Lady Rams defeated the Lady Broncos 4-0 in the first game and took a 9-1 victory in the second game.
Fayetteville State (18-27, 11-6, 7-3) needed to win both games to win the Southern Division. Instead, the Lady Broncos, who had won seven of their last eight games entering the day, will take the No. 2 seed into this week's CIAA Tournament, which begins on Thursday in Petersburg, VA.
Jessica Randolph (Fr., Pinetops, NC) had two hits in Game 1 for Fayetteville State, which finished with just four hits. Winston-Salem State (25-11) scored all four of its runs in the bottom of the fourth inning.
The Lady Rams broke a 2-1 game wide open with five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning on their way to the doubleheader sweep.
Randolph drove in the Lady Broncos' lone run.
