Final Stats
RALEIGH, NC - Danielle McClay belted a home run and drove in three runs as Bowie State topped Fayetteville State 11-5 in softball on the final day of the CIAA Roundup on Monday morning at the Walnut Creek Softball Complex in Raleigh.
Kristen Lee had three hits and drove in two runs while Justine Smith had two hits and also drive in two runs for the Lady Bulldogs, one of the CIAA's premier teams. Adria Lewis added a solo home run for Bowie State as McClay finished 2-for-5.
Quristeen Brown (Fr., Greensboro, NC) led all players at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a home run and an RBI for the Lady Broncos (10-17, 4-3), who finished their play at the roundup with a 4-3 mark. Tiffany Locklear (Fr., Maxton, NC) added a home run and had two hits to go with two RBI. Olivia Peavey had a run-scoring single.
Megan Alexander, who also drove in two runs for the Lady Bulldogs, scattered five runs on eight hits in 5 2-3 innings to pick up the victory for Bowie State.
Misty Huber (Jr., Orlando, FL) worked six innings in the loss for the Lady Broncos, who suffered four errors that contributed to Bowie State breaking the game open with six runs in the second inning.
Fayetteville State hosts Fairmont State at 3 and 5 p.m. on Wednesday at Seabrook Park.
