WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- Lamar Monger came off the bench to score a game-high 30 points to lead Winston-Salem State to a 76-62 victory over Fayetteville State in front of a sellout crowd at the CE Gaines Center on Saturday night.

Tim Plummer (Jr., Apex, NC) scored a career-high 20 points to pace the Broncos (7-8, 3-4), who led 47-42 at the 16:26 mark in the second half before the Rams (12-3, 6-2) embarked on a game-changing run.

Over the next 10 minutes, Winston-Salem State used a balanced effort to gain control of a game in which it fell behind by as many as 10 points early. The Rams used a 22-6 run over the next 10:22 to take their biggest lead to that point, 64-53, with 6:04 to go in the game.

Fayetteville State's Jarmel Baxter (Jr., Davidson, NC) converted a three-point play and then Andre Best (So, Raleigh, NC) added a tip-in for five quick Broncos' points in succession to trim the deficit back to six, 64-58, with 4:40 to go.

But Monger added a three-point play of his own and then a jump shot to stretch the advantage back to 11, 71-60, with 3:30 remaining in the game. The run expanded to 10-2 and a 74-60 lead 90 seconds later.

The Broncos, who return to Felton J. Capel Arena on Wednesday to host Virginia State at 7:30 p.m., played without leading scorer Ariel Robinson (Sr., Coral Springs, FL), who is listed as day-to-day with an injury.

Plummer hit 7 of 10 shots and made all three of his 3-point attempts, the third of which handed Fayetteville State its five-point edge less than 4 minutes into the second half. Plummer added five rebounds and three steals while Baxter had eight points. Sidney Evans (Jr., Durham, NC), who, like teammate John Herrington (Jr., Jacksonville, NC) was hampered by significant foul trouble throughout the game, added seven points and seven rebounds.

Shelton Carter added 12 points for Winston-Salem State.
