RALEIGH - Misty Huber (Orlando, FL) pitched seven innings and struck out eight batters in Fayetteville State's 8-4 win over Shaw on Thursday.

Huber (9-10) allowed only three earned runs and five hits for FSU (15-18, 8-6 CIAA).

The Broncos trailed 1-0 after the first inning, but erupted for six runs in the second. After FSU scored three runs from SU errors, right fielder LaTonia Gatling (Suffolk, VA) hit a triple to right center.

The next batter, Tracey Brighter (Spring Lake, NC) walked bringing up FSU first baseman April Branch.

Branch, a native of Pender, NC, hit a three-run homer scoring Brighter and Gatling and giving FSU a 6-0 lead. On the season, Branch leads FSU in home runs (three), batting average (.380) and RBI (34).

Freshman April Vann (San Antonio, TX) added RBI in the fourth and sixth inning to give FSU its eight runs.

Rita Diaz, a freshman from Fayetteville, NC, led FSU with three hits while Gatling added two. Brighter and Branch had the Broncos' other two hits.

FSU is off until it begins play in the CIAA Tournament in Petersburg, VA on April 15.
