CARPENTER'S CAREER HIGH NOT ENOUGH IN BRONCOS' LOSS

SALISBURY, N.C. - Despite a career-high 31 points from junior Jamel Carpenter, the Fayetteville State men's basketball team fell 70-60 at Livingstone on Monday.

A Salisbury native, Carpenter was the only Broncos player to score in double figures. He was 9-of-15 from the field and also had a team-high 10 rebounds. On the season, the junior forward has scored 30 or more points three times.

FSU (7-16, 4-13 CIAA, 2-6 Western Division) shot 37.1 percent from the field and was 5-of-18 from the 3-point line.

Three LC (11-13, 8-10, 3-5) scored 17 or more points. Greg Henry had 17 points and 14 rebounds, Donte Durant had 17 and Jarred Stockton tallied a team-high 25.

The Broncos trailed 35-30 at halftime. The Blue Bears led by two with 10:18 left and used a 15-2 run to put the game out of reach.

Senior Larry Ross and guard Mounda Williams had eight points each. Forward Paul Lane tallied seven points and six rebounds.

FSU travels to Shaw on Wednesday and St. Augustine's on Thursday before closing out the regular season by hosting Virginia State on Saturday. Tipoff for all three games is set for 7:30 p.m.
