Final Stats
Fayetteville, NC - The Lady Broncos were victorious over Concord University on Saturday (March 1st) in a season opening doubleheader of women's softball action. Fayetteville State won the first game 6-4 and 8-0 in the second match-up.
In the first game, FSU scored two runs in the first inning. Senior Shatia Gidrey recorded a RBI with a double that brought home sophomore Danisha Lyons from third. Freshman Alicia Frank singled to left field, which allowed Gidrey to cross homeplate. The Lady Broncos scored three runs in the third inning and their last run in the fourth. FSU gave up four runs to Concord in the first three innings and held them scoreless for the remainder of the contest for a 6-4 victory.
The second game of the doubleheader was a shut out. Fayetteville State got off to another great start over the Lions, scoring four runs in the first inning. Freshman Demarius Pankey had three RBIs in this contest that ended after the bottom of the fifth inning.
The Lady Broncos next match-up will be against Peace College on Sunday, March 9th beginning at 1 pm. FSU will host the Pacers in a doubleheader from Seabrook Park.
