LADY BRONCOS SET RECORD IN WIN OVER VUU

In Richmond, Virginia, Fayetteville State University posted a doubleheader win over Virginia Union Lady Panthers 10-7 and 26-15 at Parker Field. The wins improved FSU to 6-22 overall and 6-8 in CIAA action. The Lady Broncos' sophomore pitcher, Sade Morris struck out six Union batters and spread eight hits over seven innings to post her second win of the season in the 10-7 victory. Leading batters for the Lady Broncos were Aja Sawyer, 2-for-3, RBI, Yvonne Alvarez 1-for-2, a homer and two RBI's and Morris 2-for-4.

The second game saw both teams combine for 41 runs. This will go down in the NCAA and CIAA record books as the third most runs scored in a single game by two teams. The 41 runs tied the school record for runs scored by two teams in a single game. The previous record of 41 was set March 28, 1995 against Johnson C. Smith University. Fayetteville State batters collected 12 hits including three doubles, a triple and three home runs. Sade Morris collected two of the homers.

The difference in the contest was the 15 errors committed by the Lady Panthers. Leading batters were Dominique Mills 3-for-6, three RBI's, Sade Morris 2-for-4, seven RBI's, a triple, two homers, Yvonne Alvarez 1-for-2, four RBI's, a home run, Gloria William 2-for-5, two RBI, a double and Shatia Gidrey 2-for-5, a RBI, and a double. The win was Gidrey fourth of the season
