Chynna Hunt

Chynna Hunt was named head coach of the Fayetteville State University volleyball program in January 2024, becoming the eighth head coach in the program's history. A proud Fayetteville State alumna, Hunt returned to her alma mater after building a successful coaching résumé at the high school and club levels, bringing a championship pedigree, passion for student-athlete development, and a deep connection to the Bronco volleyball tradition.

In just her first two seasons, Hunt has firmly reestablished Fayetteville State as one of the premier volleyball programs in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA). During her debut campaign in 2024, she guided the Broncos to a CIAA Championship match appearance, engineering a remarkable postseason run that included a quarterfinal victory over Elizabeth City State and a semifinal sweep of top-seeded Virginia State. Fayetteville State concluded the season as the CIAA runner-up, while seven Broncos earned postseason recognition and multiple players collected weekly conference honors.

Hunt's success continued in 2025 as she led the Broncos from runner-up to champion. Fayetteville State finished the season with a 21-5 overall record and a 15-2 mark in conference play before capturing the 2025 CIAA Volleyball Championship with a straight-set victory over two-time defending champion Shaw University. The title marked Fayetteville State's eighth CIAA volleyball championship and the program's first conference crown since 2021. The championship season also earned the Broncos a berth in the NCAA Atlantic Regional, further solidifying the program's return to regional prominence.

Under Hunt's leadership, Fayetteville State produced some of the conference's top performers, including CIAA Setter of the Year Giovanna Teixeira, while multiple Broncos earned All-CIAA recognition. Her ability to develop talent, foster a championship culture, and maintain academic and athletic excellence has quickly positioned Fayetteville State among the conference's elite programs.

As a student-athlete at Fayetteville State from 2016-19, Hunt was a versatile outside hitter and utility player who helped continue the program's winning tradition. She earned All-CIAA and CIAA All-Tournament honors in 2018 and played a key role in leading the Broncos to the 2019 CIAA Volleyball Championship. Hunt was also a member of Fayetteville State's 2016 CIAA runner-up squad and competed for the Broncos' women's tennis program in 2018.

Prior to returning to Fayetteville State, Hunt enjoyed success on the high school and club circuits throughout South Carolina. She coached several elite travel volleyball teams that competed for tournament championships and national qualifier berths. As head varsity coach at Myrtle Beach High School, she led her teams to conference runner-up finishes and state playoff appearances in 2022 and 2023 while also earning the school's Highest GPA Award for her program.

A native of Summerville, South Carolina, Hunt was a standout volleyball and basketball player at Ashley Ridge High School, earning All-Region and All-State honors. She is pursuing a master's degree in mass communications from Coastal Carolina University and is a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
