A native of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Tucker graduated from North Carolina Central University in 1977, he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education. He went on to earn his Master's Degree in Education Administration at Fayetteville State University. Tucker and his wife Theresa are the proud parents of three children. He is also a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.
