Sanders, Scales Earn All-CIAA Cheer Team Honors

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Fayetteville State University cheerleaders Mya Sanders and Camryn Scales have been named to the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association All-CIAA Cheer Squad, recognizing their outstanding leadership, performance, and dedication to the Bronco cheer program.

Mya Sanders earned All-CIAA honors after exemplifying what it means to be a Bronco Cheerleader. A junior and the 2025–26 cheer co-captain, Sanders has consistently demonstrated leadership, accountability, and an unwavering commitment to personal and team growth. Trusted by her teammates, she leads selflessly and is known for her dependability and willingness to go the extra mile, always prioritizing the success of the team.

A native of Virginia Beach, Va., Sanders is a graduate of Tallwood High School and is majoring in Criminal Justice. She plans to pursue a career as a crime analyst with aspirations of eventually attending the FBI Academy. Off the mat, Sanders enjoys crocheting and credits her parents as her biggest influences, shaping her into a confident and driven young woman. She was also recognized as the 2024–25 Players Choice Award recipient, further highlighting the respect she has earned from her teammates.

Sanders chose Fayetteville State University for its welcoming atmosphere and strong sense of community, describing FSU as a place that represents family and feels like home.

Camryn Scales was also selected to the All-CIAA Cheer Squad in recognition of her consistent hard work, growth, and standout performances. Now in her second year with the program, Scales' development over the past three years has been remarkable, as she continues to elevate both herself and those around her. She joined the team with confidence and leadership, serving as Blue Squad co-captain during her freshman year. From stunting and tumbling to facials, Scales is a dynamic performer and an undeniable presence on and off the mat.

A junior from Fuquay-Varina, N.C., Scales graduated from Fuquay-Varina High School in 2023, where she was actively involved in the Honors Society and served on the executive boards of both the National Achievers Society and the Black Student Union. She is majoring in Pre-Education and aspires to become an elementary school teacher before pursuing a career as a child psychologist.

Scales' commitment to service is evident through her work mentoring youth, serving as a Trot Leader for New Student Orientation, and working as a campus tour guide. She was named the 2024–25 Bronco Cheerleading MVP, a testament to her impact and leadership within the program. Outside of cheer, Scales enjoys shopping, watching Netflix, and singing, while crediting her mother as her greatest influence and source of motivation.

Sanders and Scales' All-CIAA selections highlight the excellence, leadership, and character that define the Fayetteville State University cheerleading program.
