BALTIMORE, MD (February 26, 2022) - Two Fayetteville State cheerleaders were recognized by the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association as members of the 2021-2022 All-CIAA Cheerleading Squad at the 2022 Super Saturday event during the CIAA Basketball tournament.

Angel Richardson (#21, Blue squad) and Tavia Huggins (#94, Blue squad) were selected to represent FSU based on their leadership attributes and athletic abilities.

Richardson is a Marshville, North Carolina native in her sophomore year of pre-nursing studies and her first year as a Bronco cheerleader. She contributes her selection to hard work and dedication.

"Standing on stage and having my name announced as being named an All-CIAA cheerleader made me feel accomplished," said Richardson. "I worked so hard to hold as many leadership titles as I do, and this accomplishment was just the cherry on top."

Also, in her second year of matriculation, Huggins studies early childhood education. She adds high energy and creativity, as to why her teammates selected her to represent the team as Miss Cheer Phi Smoov for the 2021 FSU Homecoming festivities.

Head Cheerleading Coach, Dr. LaWanda Miller says that throughout their tenure, these ladies have exceeded expectations and believe they will continue to contribute great leadership to the squad.

"I would describe the two as the most consistent and solid performers who excelled on the court and in the classroom. Both are always willing to help with extras and have served in various leadership capacities since making the squad during football season," added Dr. Miller.
