Leland, NC – The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) recognized the 2025 All-CIAA Golf Team and the Northern and Southern Division Champions at its pre-championship awards dinner held at the Leland Cultural Arts Center in Leland, NC. Fayetteville State's
Sutton Dreier was named the Rookie of the Year and was joined on the All-CIAA Team by
Allan Terrazas. This year's All-CIAA Team consisted of the top 12 golfers with combined scores from the Northern and Southern Division Tournaments.
Sutton Dreier, a freshman from Fayetteville, NC, had a combined score of 373 (223, 150) over the two tournaments. He shot a 150 (+9) at the two-round CIAA Northern Division Tournament. Dreier had a challenging performance in the CIAA Northern Division. In Round 1, he completed the course with a total of 75 strokes, finishing +4 to par. Notable moments included a tough 6 strokes on Hole 9 (Par 4) and 5 strokes on Hole 8 (Par 5). In Round 2, Dreier again finished with 75 strokes, but this time +5 to par. He had a strong start with 3 strokes on Hole 1 (Par 4) and an impressive 2 strokes on Hole 12 (Par 3). Despite some difficult holes, Dreier showed resilience throughout the tournament, ending with a total score of +9 over two rounds.
The weather during the CIAA Northern Division Tournament was quite challenging, which likely impacted Dreier's performance. The tournament, held on April 7th and 8th, 2025, in Richmond, Virginia, experienced variable conditions, including gusty winds and occasional rain showers.
Dreier completed three rounds of the Southern Division Tournament at the Holly Ridge Golf Links with scores of 73, 71, and 79. In the first round, Dreier finished with one-over-par, despite a strong start with birdies on holes 4, 5, and 7. The second round saw Dreier improve to one-under-par, maintaining consistent performance with birdies on holes 5, 7, and 9. However, Dreier struggled in the third round, finishing seven-over-par, with bogeys on holes 4, 5, 14, and 15.
Allan Terrazas, a freshman from Mexico City, Mexico, had a total stroke count of 374. Terrazas finished tied for eighth at the CIAA Southern Division Tournament Archdale, NC with a 220 (+4) scorecard over three rounds. Allan's performance at Holly Ridge Golf Links was a mix of highs and lows. In Round 1, he finished with 73 strokes, ending +1 to par. He had a few challenging holes, such as Hole 3 (Par 3) with 7 strokes and Hole 6 (Par 4) with 7 strokes, but also managed strong finishes on several holes, including Hole 1 (Par 4) with 3 strokes and Hole 10 (Par 4) with 2 strokes.
In Round 2, Allan improved, finishing with 72 strokes and ending even to par. He had consistent performance across most holes, with notable moments like 3 strokes on Hole 1 (Par 4) and Hole 2 (Par 4), and 3 strokes on Hole 8 (Par 3).
Round 3 saw Allan finish with 75 strokes, ending +3 to par. He faced difficulties on Hole 6 (Par 4) with 6 strokes and Hole 17 (Par 4) with 5 strokes but also had solid performances on Hole 3 (Par 3) with 3 strokes and Hole 6 (Par 4) with 3 strokes.
At the Northern Tournament, Allan was tied at 17
th with 154 strokes. In Round 1, he finished with 76 strokes, ending +5 to par. Notable moments included 5 strokes on Hole 3 (Par 4) and Hole 4 (Par 4), and 5 strokes on Hole 8 (Par 5). In Round 2, Allan completed the course with 78 strokes, finishing +8 to par. He had a strong start with 3 strokes on Hole 1 (Par 4) and Hole 2 (Par 3) but faced difficulties with 6 strokes on Hole 4 (Par 5) and 7 strokes on Hole 18 (Par 5).
Livingstone College earned the CIAA Southern Division title with a five-round total of 1,476 strokes over the two tournaments. The Blue Bears edged out Fayetteville State by 24 strokes. The Broncos had a total of 1,500. Virginia Union was presented the Northern Division trophy with 1,510 strokes. Virginia State trails the Panthers with 1,519.
