Greenville, SC - The Fayetteville State men's golf team finished 10th at the Bearcat Spring Invitational held at The Preserve At Verdae on February 3-4th, with a total score of 913 (+49) over three rounds. The team posted scores of 303, 302, and 308 in each round, respectively.
The tournament winners were Wingate, finishing first with a total score of 864 (291, 285, 288). Catawba came in second with a score of 868 (289, 292, 287), and USC Aiken finished third with a score of 869 (293, 290, 286).
Allan Terrazas was the Bronco leader, finishing with a total score of +6. He recorded six birdies over the three rounds. In the first round, he shot a 73 (+1), followed by an even-par 72 in the second round, and a 77 (+5) in the final round. His performance was highlighted by steady play, particularly in the second round where he managed to stay under par for most of the holes.
Sutton Drier
Sutton Drier had a challenging tournament, finishing with a total score of +16. He started with a 76 (+4) in the first round, followed by a 78 (+6) in the second round, and another 77 (+5) in the final round. Despite some struggles, Drier showed resilience, particularly in the final round where he managed to improve his score on the back nine.
Patricio Ramirez finished with a total score of +12. He shot a 77 (+5) in the first round, followed by another 77 (+5) in the second round, and a 75 (+3) in the final round. Ramirez demonstrated consistency, particularly in the final round where he managed to keep his score close to par.
Juan Lopez ended the tournament with a total score of +13. He started with a 77 (+5) in the first round, followed by a 75 (+3) in the second round, and a 79 (+7) in the final round. Lopez had a strong second round, managing to stay even par on several holes.
Jack McCarthy had a tough tournament, finishing with a total score of +25. He shot a 79 (+7) in the first round, followed by an 80 (+8) in the second round, and an 82 (+10) in the final round. Despite the challenges, McCarthy showed determination throughout the tournament.
