FSU Women’s Basketball Hosts Johnson C. Smith at Home Thursday for Greek Night

Fayetteville, NC – The Fayetteville State women's basketball team is set to face off against the Golden Bulls this Thursday, February 8th, for Greek Night. Game time begins at 5:30 pm followed by the men's game at 7:30 pm, in the Felton J. Capel Arena.

The doubleheader will be streamed live on the FSU Broncos Sports Network.

The History

  • FSU and JCSU will meet for the second time this season.
  • FSU lost their first matchup against JCSU this season, 53-63.
  • The Broncos are 6-4 in their last 10 matchups against the Golden Bulls.
  • The Broncos swept the season series vs JCSU last season until they met in the 2023 CIAA Quarterfinals, where the Broncos fell short (54-62).

About the Broncos

The Broncos have taken this season by storm, currently 12-1 in conference play, holding the #1 spot in the CIAA Southern Division. They are 10-0 at home, 8-2 away, and hope to keep their winning streak at home alive this Thursday. Since the Broncos and the Golden Bulls met last time, the Broncos have been on a 5-0 winning streak (Livingstone 67-58, Winston-Salem 63-49, Claflin 67-50, St. Augustine's 72-62, Shaw 59-44).

In their most recent game on Feb. 6 vs Shaw University, team leaders Aniylah Bryant and Talia Trotter scored in double figures. Bryant led with 16 points, five assists, and five steals. Trotter followed with 13 points, four assists, and three steals. Keayna McLaughlin added nine points, six rebounds, and five steals.

Junior forward Morgan Graham is a force in the paint, sitting at #1 in the CIAA in blocks (66), and leads her team in rebounding (159).

About the Golden Bulls

JCSU holds the #3 spot in the CIAA Southern Division. They are 7-4 in conference play, 5-3 at home, and 3-5 away. The Golden Bulls have a 3-1 game run since their win against the Broncos earlier this season (W, Livingstone College 60-56; L, Claflin 65-82; W, Shaw 71-49; W, Winston-Salem 62-52).

JCSU came out with a win in their most recent game vs Winston-Salem State (62-52). Team leaders include Ciara Hunter with 13 points, Ashlei Kirven with 15 rebounds, and Najah Lane with 4 assists.
