CE GAINES CENTER, Winston --The Fayetteville State men's basketball team got a 24-point showing from the bench, but fell 75-50 to the Winston-Salem Rams on the road Tuesday.
Sean Tony Hauser led the Broncos (14-11, 9-6) with 13 points. D'Marco Baucum added nine points and six rebounds and Caleb Simmons chipped in as well with nine points.
Hauser pulled down five offensive rebounds to lead the Fayetteville State offense which grabbed 12 boards and turned them into 17 second-chance points.
The Rams (16-8, 10-5) were led by Jaylen Alston with 35 points and 7 rebounds.
How It Happened
Fayetteville State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 35-19 heading into halftime.
Winston-Salem kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 72-39 advantage before Fayetteville State went on a 5-0 run to shrink the deficit to 72-44 with 3:00 to go in the contest. The Broncos kept their comeback going, but Winston-Salem managed to hold on for the 75-50 win. Fayetteville State took care of business in the paint, recording 20 of its 31 points in the lane.
