Broncos secure 3-0 sweep over Lincoln (PA)

PETERSBURG, VA --The Fayetteville State volleyball team secured a 3-0 win (25-9, 25-21, 25-9) over the Lincoln (PA) Lions Saturday at Multipurpose Center.

The victory improved the Broncos' record to 5-10 overall and 2-1 in CIAA play.

Chiara Vittoni finished with 10 kills on the day to lead the Broncos offense while finishing with a hitting percentage of .571.Nikole Akamine also pitched in with eight in the contest. got 13 digs from Jordan Johnson to lead them defensively.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Broncos grabbed the first set 25-9 powered by a solid performance on the attacking end. Fayetteville State put together a .471 attack percentage with nine kills in the set victory. The Broncos ended on a strong note, stretching their lead to its largest point in the set to finish out the stanza. Fayetteville State also supplemented their offense with five aces in the opening set.

SET 2 | Fayetteville State took set two 25-21 to quickly jump to a 2-0 lead. The Broncos never trailed by more than five points and grabbed the advantage for good at 10-9 in a set that showcased three lead changes before the Broncos took over the lead. The Fayetteville State offense also got a boost from four aces in the stanza.

SET 3 | Fayetteville State took the third set to sweep the match 3-0. The Broncos took control of the set early when the score was 5-4 and never looked back to win 25-9. Fayetteville State ended on a strong note, opening up its biggest lead of the stanza, 16 points, to finish off the set. The Fayetteville State offense also got a boost from five aces in the stanza.
