Charlotte, NC – Fayetteville State's volleyball standouts

Jordan Johnson received CIAA Volleyball weekly honors after competing Lorraine Redderson Invitational over the weekend on the campus of Lander University.
Casandra Watson, a senior from Grifton, NC, was voted the Food Lion Offensive Player of the Week.
Jordan Johnson, a senior from Little Elm, TX, was voted the Food Lion Defensive Player of the Week.
Watson, who is ranked second in the CIAA in total kills with 124, finished with 46 kills from 13 sets over the two-day tournament. She had a high total of 16 kills versus Lincoln Memorial. Watson had a double-double of 12 kills and 15 digs versus Francis Marion and had 11 digs against North Greenville.
Johnson earned her second CIAA Volleyball Weekly Honor with a total of 59 digs over 12 sets. She dug up 27 saves versus Lincoln Memorial, 16 against Barton, and 13 versus North Greenville. Jordan earned a season high of 8 assists against Lincoln Memorial.
Fayetteville State will host its home opener this Thursday, September 21 in Capel Arena against CIAA favorite Shaw University. The first serve is set for 6 p.m. The Broncos will honor
Jaida Bynum before the match after she surpassed the 1000-Assist plateau during the CIAA Volleyball Tournament last season. She currently has a career total of 1,229 assists with 201 coming from 12 matches this year.
