Broncos total 15 blocks in 3-1 loss to Lincoln Memorial

GREENWOOD, S.C. --The Fayetteville State volleyball team racked up 15.0 blocks in a four-set loss (20-25, 25-27, 25-21, 24-26) to the Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters Friday at Finis Horne Arena.

The non-conference loss dropped Fayetteville State to 2-7 on the season.

Casandra Watson finished with 16 kills on the day to lead the Broncos offense while finishing with a hitting percentage of .394. Defensively, Fayetteville State had two players reach double figures in digs as Jordan Johnson had 27 and Nikole Akamine had 10. From the front row, Christina Pratcher contributed five blocks and Anjola Thomas added five rejections.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Broncos lost the first set 25-20 in spite of a solid showing on the attacking side. Fayetteville State registered a .308 attack percentage with 11 kills in the set loss.

SET 2 | Fayetteville State dropped the second set 27-25, digging a 2-0 hole in the match. The Broncos dropped a tight second set, losing in a stanza that was tied eight times and had three lead changes.

SET 3 | Fayetteville State rallied back to pull within two sets to one, winning their first set of the match in the third stanza. The Broncos survived a back-and-forth set to win 25-21 in a stanza that featured five lead changes and was tied eight times. Neither team opened up a lead of more than four points along the way.

SET 4 | Fayetteville State couldn't keep the rally going and lost in the fourth set 26-24 to drop the match. The Broncos couldn't survive a furious Lincoln Memorial rally, losing after leading by seven points at 22-15 earlier in the set.
