Fletcher, Coleman combine to score 29, Fayetteville State falls to Talladega 54-47

FORBES ARENA, Atlanta --Tairell Fletcher scored 16 points and Kaleb Coleman had 13 more, but the Broncos fell to the Talladega Tornadoes 54-47 at Saturday.

Fletcher led the Broncos (2-3) with 16 points. Coleman added a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds and Caleb Simmons chipped in as well with eight points and three steals.

Fayetteville State collected 27 rebounds in Saturday's game compared to Talladega's 21, led by Coleman's 10 boards. The Broncos also put in work on the offensive glass, turning 12 rebounds into 12 second chance points.

The Fayetteville State defense caused its share of mistakes in Saturday's game, forcing 14 Talladega turnovers. Those takeaways turned into 11 points on the other end of the floor. Simmons' three steals led the way individually for the Broncos.

How It Happened

Fayetteville State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 28-17 heading into halftime.

Talladega kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 42-29 advantage before Fayetteville State went on an 8-0 run to shrink the deficit to 42-37 with 6:04 to go in the contest. Talladega responded and outscored the Broncos the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 54-47. Fayetteville State made the most of six offensive rebounds to tack on eight second chance points out of 30 total in the period.
