FORBES ARENA, Atlanta --The Fayetteville State men's basketball team came up short in a 75-55 loss to the Morehouse Maroon Tigers at Friday's HBCU All Star Challenge in Atlanta Ga.
The Broncos (2-1 overall) had two players score in double figures, led by Kaleb Coleman, who had 16 points and two steals. Tairell Fletcher added 16 points and Caleb Simmons added six points, six rebounds and two steals.
D'Marco Baucum pulled down four offensive rebounds to lead the Fayetteville State offense which grabbed 12 boards and turned them into 11 second chance points.
How It Happened
Fayetteville State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 40-26 heading into halftime.
Morehouse kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 61-43 advantage before Fayetteville State went on a 6-0 run to shrink the deficit to 61-49 with 5:34 to go in the contest. Morehouse responded and outscored the Broncos the rest of the way, ending the game with a final score of 75-55. Fayetteville State got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 10 of its 29 total points.
