ELIZABETH CITY, NC --The Fayetteville State volleyball team showed impressive resilience with a 3-2 victory against the Bluefield State Lady Blues Saturday at R L Vaughan Center.
The conference win improved Fayetteville State's record to 10-10 overall and 7-1 in CIAA action.
The Broncos offense was paced by Casandra Watson, who finished with 22 kills on the day while accumulating a hitting percentage of .318. Allinson Torres added 11 and Chiara Vittoni chipped in with 10 as part of balanced Fayetteville State attack. The Broncos got 25 digs from Jordan Johnson to lead them defensively.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Broncos opened up an early one set to none lead, winning a hard-fought first set 25-23. Fayetteville State trailed by as many as six points, but grabbed the advantage for good at 24-23 in a set that showcased three lead changes before the Broncos took over in the second half of the stanza. Fayetteville State also supplemented their offense with three aces in the opening set.
SET 2 | Fayetteville State then lost set two 25-20, evening the match at a set apiece. The Broncos dropped the first point and never took the lead before dropping the set.
SET 3 | Fayetteville State put the second-set loss behind and grabbed a 2-1 match lead with a victory in set three. The Broncos scored first and never trailed in the set to earn a 25-17 victory. Fayetteville State opened up as much as a 13 point lead at 15-2 before finishing off the set.
SET 4 | Fayetteville State couldn't finish off a four-set win as the Lady Blues forced a fifth set with a 25-17 victory. The Broncos trailed by as many as eight points as Bluefield State grabbed the advantage for good at 5-4 and Fayetteville State wasn't able to recover in a set that was tied up four times before the Lady Blues took over.
SET 5 | Fayetteville State and Bluefield State went back and forth all game, trading set wins until the Broncos took set five 15-3 and the match. The Broncos took a 1-0 lead and never looked back in the fifth set to earn the victory. Fayetteville State ended on a high note, opening its biggest lead of the stanza, 12 points, to finish off the set.
The Broncos will play Bowie State later at 4 p.m. today at the CIAA Roundup hosted by Elizabeth City State.
