FAYETTEVILLE, NC --The Fayetteville State volleyball team stormed back after dropping set one to secure a 3-1 victory (21-25, 25-10, 25-15, 25-21) over the Claflin Panthers Thursday at home at the Felton J. Capel Arena.

The win moved the Broncos' record to 5-8 overall and 4-1 in CIAA play.  Claflin drops to 7-3 and 2-3 in the conference.

The Broncos were led by a double-double from Casandra Watson, who registered 11 kills and 18 digs on the day. Xiamana Spikes also added 12 kills to help the offense. On the defensive end, Jordan Johnson chipped in for with 22 digs to go with two blocks from A'Lexus Everett.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Broncos found themselves in an early hole, losing the first set 25-21. Claflin grabbed the advantage for good at 7-6 in a set that was tied up five times before the Panthers took control.

SET 2 | Fayetteville State rallied from a first-set loss to take the second set 25-10, tying the match at 1-1. The Broncos took control of the set lead early on at 5-4 and never looked back. Fayetteville State opened its biggest lead of the stanza, 15 points, to close out the set.

SET 3 | Fayetteville State won again in set three to take a 2-1 match lead. The Broncos led from the opening point on in the set to secure a 25-15 victory. Fayetteville State opened up as much as an 11 point lead at 23-12 before finishing off the set.

SET 4 | Fayetteville State ended the match with a 25-21 fourth-set victory, winning their third straight set. The Broncos took the lead for good at 14-13 in a set that had just one lead change before the Broncos took over in the second half of the stanza. The Broncos win came in a stanza where 17 of their 25 points came via the kill.
