BOWIE, MD. --The Fayetteville State volleyball team could not out-play the ECSU Vikings' offense Sunday in Bowie, MD losing to Elizabeth City State in straight sets (24-26, 20-25, 9-25) on the final day of the CIAA Round-up.

The loss dropped Fayetteville State's record to 5-8 overall and 4-1 in CIAA action. ECSU is 10-6 overall and a perfect 4-0 in the conference.

Kailyn Williams finished with five kills on the day to lead the Broncos attack. Defensively, had two players reach double figures in digs as Jordan Johnson had 21 and Cassandra Watson had 11.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Broncos fell in a tight first set, losing 26-24 in a game that was tied seven times and had four lead changes.

SET 2 | Fayetteville State fell in the second set 25-20, digging a 2-0 hole in the match. Elizabeth City State grabbed the advantage for good at 6-5 in a set that was knotted up six times before the Vikings took over the lead.

SET 3 | Fayetteville State couldn't prolong the match and lost in set number three. The Broncos fell behind on the first point and fought from behind the rest of the way before falling in the set 25-9.
