BOWIE, MD --The Fayetteville State volleyball team stormed back in the opening match of the CIAA Round-up after losing the first set to secure a 3-1 victory (19-25, 25-18, 25-21, 25-18) over the Lincoln (PA) Lions Friday at McKeldin Gym in Bowie, Maryland.
The conference win improved Fayetteville State's record to 4-7 overall and 3-0 in CIAA action. Lincoln drops to 2-6 and 0-3 in conference play.
The Broncos attack was paced by Kailyn Williams, who finished with 11 kills on the day while accumulating a hitting percentage of .261, and by Xiamana Spikes, who had 11 while hitting .474. Defensively, FSU had two players reach double figures in digs as Jordan Johnson had 14 and Aeyane Mattress had 11.

SET 1 | The Broncos found themselves in an early deficit, dropping a tough first set 25-19. Fayetteville State trailed by as many as nine points as Lincoln (PA) never gave up the lead in a set that was tied up four times before the Lions took control.
SET 2 | Fayetteville State rallied after dropping the first set to take the second set 25-18, evening the match at one set apiece. The Broncos scored first and never trailed in the set to earn the victory. Fayetteville State opened up as much as a 10 point lead at 13-3 before closing out the set. The Fayetteville State offense also got a boost from four aces in the stanza.
SET 3 | Fayetteville State went ahead 2-1 in the match after defeating the Lions in the third set. The Broncos led from the opening point on in the set to earn a 25-21 victory. Fayetteville State opened up as much as a seven point lead at 13-6 before closing out the set.
SET 4 | Fayetteville State ended the match with a 25-18 fourth-set victory, winning their third straight set. The Broncos led from the first point on in the set to earn the victory. Fayetteville State opened up as much as a 10 point lead at 24-14 before closing out the stanza.
