Brandon Barnes-Brown was named to the 2022 Boxtorow HBCU Football Preseason All-American Team.
"It means a lot. It feels good knowing that what I did last year didn't go unnoticed but, that's in the past," Brandon said. "I'm focused on what I'm going to do this year."
During the 2021 season, Barnes-Brown recorded a league-best five (5) interceptions, with 13 passes defended, ten solo tackles, and 13 assisted tackles. He finished with a total of 106 interception-return yards and one touchdown. The Charlotte, NC native and former Butler High School Standout was also selected to the 2022 Pre-Season All-CIAA team after earning First Team All CIAA honors last season.
After three seasons and 28 games of participation, the 5-11 190lbs defensive back has accumulated 10 interceptions, 20 pass breakups, and 58 tackles.
Brown represents one of three CIAA selections, amongst a total of 29 Boxtorow selections listed.
BOXTOROW has administered The HBCU All-America teams since 2007 and the voters are comprised of media members from around the nation that cover HBCU football.
Fayetteville State will host UNC-Pembroke for the season opener at the Luther "Nick" Jeralds Stadium on September 3 at 7 p.m.
